Examination system

Besides class work, home assignments, term papers, project work, case studies, quizzes, weekly tests and presentations, every course has three compulsory examinations each semester: a first-term examination, a mid-term examination and the final examination. As a general guideline, every class contact hour should be supported by at least three hours of private study.

The teacher responsible for a course determines and gives the grade, based on overall performance in examinations, term papers, class tests, projects, case studies, assignments, oral tests, quizzes, attendance, presentations and participation.

Guideline weights

Mid-term examination20%
Quizzes, announced and unannounced (at least ten)5%
Attendance5%
Home assignments, term papers, projects or presentations (at least one)15%

Given the nature and level of a course, the faculty may adjust the weights within these guidelines. The allocation and the requirements must be written in the course outline at the start of classes. The suggested weights for quizzes and attendance are generally kept.
