The promise is carried out through scholarships and waivers, free university transport, group health insurance for every registered student, and deferred payment for students who cannot pay in full after their waivers.

Research is part of the mission. The university organises it around seven areas: agriculture and biodiversity; basic and applied science; business and management; environment and sustainability; engineering and technology; health and nutrition; and knowledge-based area development.
