Health insurance

Every registered student is covered by group health insurance, in place since 2011, for hospitalisation up to Tk 100,000 a year. Registration for the cover is part of each semester's academic calendar.

Counseling and Guidance Centre

The Centre is staffed by qualified psychologists and gives counselling and guidance to students and other members of the university. It helps students adjust to university life, including the demands of a trimester system with very short vacations. When needed, limited psychotherapy is also provided.

The service is free and fully confidential, with weekly sessions of 50 minutes between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Anyone in the university community can book an assessment for stress, anxiety, low mood and similar concerns.

All sessions are strictly confidential. Students come on their own, or are referred by the registry or administration when they face an academic or behavioural difficulty. The Centre is also the focal point for promoting gender equality and for dealing with cases of sexual harassment.

To reach the Centre, call the university on (88 02) 55091801-5 or write to info@iubat.edu.

Security on campus

About 80 security personnel and CCTV cameras cover the campus around the clock.

Policy against sexual harassment

The university is committed to a community free of harassment, exploitation and intimidation, and treats sexual harassment as prohibited by both law and university policy. Anyone who believes they have been harassed, or who has seen harassment, is urged to report it promptly to the Chairperson of the Complaint Committee. Complaints are investigated in a timely manner and corrective action is taken in proportion to the severity of the misconduct. Administrators, supervisors and teachers who know of harassment and let it continue are themselves liable to disciplinary action.

The full policy and the grievance procedure are in university policies.
